2021 Developments

Hi! It's been a while! Yes, what a busy couple of years! My debut Zopp album was released last year, April 2020, and it's been a great success, ending up in many best prog albums of the year lists, 2020 album of the year on Progarchives.com wesbite! That was a big achievement for me, considering that I've used Prog Archives as a resources for discovering new progressive music for many years ( in fact over 15 years). So Zopp 1 has been a great success, as CDs continue to sell well, and much love and appreciation from fans which I'm very grateful for.

I've been working on the second batch of Zopp music since June 2019 (over half a year before the first one was released). It's taken some time to write, record, mix and produce- and I've set myself the task of doing all of this myself this time, just so I can grow by taking on more of these responsibilities. So it's been a challenge! The first major step in making Zopp 2 was when me and Andrea ( Zopp drummer) rented a cottage in Derbyshire in May and June 2021 to record drums for the next album. We had 3 or 4 days to record 1 hour and 20 minutes of music, and we finished it comfortably, on time. Since then, I've working tirelessly to finish all of this music. It's been the most ambitious music project I've worked on yet and I can't wait until all of this music is available to the world! But like the first album, it's important for me to make sure it's right before it's released.., so thank you for your patience.

Here's a shot of Andrea, below, performing for the Zopp 2 recording session in May and June 2021.

This year I've also been working on a new project with close friend and owner of Repose Records, Tom Collins. This is called Somalgia; it's Tom's concept - a vision for a post genre album and the end result is superb! I was gladly drafted in to help with the producing, mixing and some of the song writing/ performing. It really is a diverse and challenging piece of music, ranging from pop to black metal, to trip hop to Opeth-esque and Pink Floyd passages, to Magma inspired metal. This is finished, and will be out later this year or early 2022, on Repose Records. Keep an eye out for it!

Maybe some film music in the pipeline, but this is being planned at the moment; the 'virus' situation had an impact on some of these type of projects last year and 2021- so I'm looking forward to working on some film projects in the not to distant future.

Thanks for reading and I will keep you updated soon!
